Extra Extra...read all about it

Ankara Button Earrings made just for you…LOL!! So I went shopping again but didn’t spend quite as much. These were very easy to make and they are soooooo cute!! I love the fact that they come in different sizes.

*Yea, ignore my improvised 'labels'...i kinda like them sha. I need to figure out a way to make better ones...i'm sure they sell them some place.

I paired the yellow button earrings with the peter pan collar from the last post. Isn't it sooo cute?? What do you all think? Would you rock it?

Peter Pan!!

These have been all the rave so I decided to give it a try. Now these took a while to make cos everything was by hand. Yes, all the others have been by hand but they were relatively quick. With this tho, I thot I might be able to stitch the edges with my sewing machine but alas I couldn’t. I didn’t want a regular top stitch; I wanted something like a blanket stitch. So I hand-sewed the blanket stitch all around then sewed a ‘button’ in the center. Oh there is some ‘felt’ on the back which is why I wanted a ‘decorative’ stitch.

This is getting kinda serious oh!

So after scouring YouTube for hours i got so pumped that i decided to go shopping for supplies and Duuuude!!! I was in the store for hours and spent over a hundred. I got earring hooks, Felt squares, Tools for jewelry making, Fabric [cos i wanted to sew a peplum top...more on that later], Fabric glue, Fabric Stiffener and some other stuff sha.

Anyways, while making some of the hair pieces [the yo-yos], i thought 'ohhh i can totaly use some of these 'styles/patterns' to make a necklace...so off i went again to YouTube and what do you know...

I think the 'rope' or whatever it's called is too skinny cos i think it sits weird on my neck...maybe i'll try it on just a ribbon next time.

What do you think?

PS: Ignore my improvised 'label' :p

More Hair stuff

I love YouTube...you can find any and everything. With a little patience and practice you can be whatever you want...lol, okay just kidding. Like i said #NothingNewUnderTheSun so i doubt you'll see anything here that is revolutionary...the difference will be that they will be made from Ankara or African Print or just Print even...yea that's not new either but whatevs :)

Found some pattern so i just cut up some ankara and plain black material and layered then alternatively.
Oh and the others are the very revolutionary.......wait for it!!!! BowTies!!! Lol

Genesis

I started out making hair bows and accessories for my niece. They were relatively easy to make and you don't even need a sewing machine for most of them. My bro and his fam came to visit over the last holiday and these were are back to school pressies.

Hello World!

So I've always said about myself that "I don't have a creative bone in my body", ironically, I've always thought it'd be pretty neat to 'create' things with Ankara/African prints...things like: earrings/throw pillows/picture frames/hair accessories/etc. I realize that this isn't even remotely a new idea because there are all kinds of creative people doing great things with print seeing as there is #NothingNewUnderTheSun.

Anyways, I've had some time on my hands lately so i've been playing around with some Ankara/Prints. This blog will feature pictures of my sample pieces, if you will [as you will see, most will be from the same type fabric]. The question i'm still asking myself is...To sell or Not to sell?? Is the market too saturated?? I guess we shall see. Come with me, will ya? and feel free to let me know your thoughts :).
