I hate to say i just might not be able to fulfill my one project a month 'goal' :(
Last month got away from my and i didn't get around to making anything...that was my bad. I fully intended to double up this month. I found a real easy to follow tutorial on how to sew a pair of shorts. Measured, cut, and went to begin to sew. Sewed on the pocket on one piece and the machine starts acting up. I have no idea what's wrong with it. The top sews fine but it makes this really loud noise as the needle goes in and out and the thread just kinda gathers on the bottom of the fabric...no bueno!! I can remove the bobbin and replace it so it's not like its stuck...it's threading but something i hooking it somewhere. It also looks like there is an accumulation of dust or something in the machine somewhere. Serves me right for not closing the bloody thing when not in use when i have a cover for it. Now i have NO clue where to look to begin to fix it.

I'll be back if i can fix it or figure it out, if not, well....

Lazy Project!!
This is a hella hella lazy project. I couldn't decide what i wanted to make then i look up and here come end of the month so this one is a cheat project cos it took me like 15mins. lol
You know how you go to a wedding or something and by the end of the night you've dumped your fab heels for them flats?? Usually just under a table somewhere or in some paper/plastic bag...I don't do this at weddings sha...feel free to judge me :)
Anyways, i made a dust bag for my shoes (the under side is plain black). I have a pair of TOMS that came with one so i just used that as a template. See, super easy project.
Well, the next time i have a wedding i shall carry my flats in my dust bag [and no one will know what's in my lil ankara drawstring] and have a nice place to 'hide' my heels when it's time to switch it up.
PS: I have no idea what i'm going to make next month.

Ankara Circle Skirt
I've been wanting to make one for the longest time [tutorial abound on youtube]...procrastination!!! I'm not crazy about the fabric. I found it on the sale pile at a fabric store for real cheap a while ago and just got it to practice with.
Anyways, i think it looks okay, i've rokced it already sef...lol. But mehn, you don't want to see how uneven and very scattered the stitching is on the elastic band. It was a bit of a challenge trying to stretch the elastic and also keep the fabric in place all while making sure i sew a straight line...umm, yea...you can't tell by looking at it tho' so that's the saving grace.
I need to attempt making one with a zipper. I keep running away for zips but i gotta learn and perfect that as some point.
I wanna make a pair of shorts but omo mehn iono.
Not sure what my July project is gonna be...hmm.

Ankara Covered Note Pad
I was looking through a box and came across one of those note pads you get as souvenirs from weddings from like two years ago. This one has a pretty sturdy cover and just like that i got 'inspired' to cover it up...lol. Seriously tho', I'd thought about doing one ages ago but never got around to it...seeing the note pad that day i suddenly thought i bet this won't take me 30mins. And it didn't...
I prob won't use it tho...it's one of those that seems like the pages are glued so flipping the pages back n forth will prob unravel the thing. Meh, i sha made it :).
I also made the Wired head band i mentioned in my last post per my sisters request. This wasn't as easy as i thought. It wasn't hard at all to sew but bending the wire into shape took some doing. I only made one. I'll try it again some other time.

Ankara Bow Tie & Pocket Square
Crap!! I had my picture ready way before but forgot to put up a post for April. This really was made in April.
Anyways, someone i had made one of the other Bow ties [on this blog somewhere] had been requesting another one. We had cultural day in church a couple of weeks ago so i figured what the heck why not make him one...so he could rock it on the cultural day [we attend the same church]...only this time i decided to throw in a pocket square as well...that was pretty easy to make. I took the easy way out and cut it with pinking shears (is that what they're called? I forget). This way i didn't have to sew the edges. I also used 'No fray' on the ends so they won't unravel soon. I mean, it's a pocket square, i don't expect it will be manipulated much...all it needs is to be ironed into whatever style he wants. The one pictured was one of the many styles available.
I think this is such a fun fabric. My sis requested a 'wired' head band with this fabric so that might be my May DIY.
What do you think?
Would you rock it?
Would you buy it?
How much would you pay for it?

Head Bands
I've made some headbands before...they are somewhere on this blog. Anyways, i gave a double sided one to my sister. When i went home for the holidays i noticed the thing had seen better days...as in she had rocked the thing so much it had changed color. I sha made a mental note i'd make her some more
So here we are, I decided i'll make 5. Not double sided this time though...all with black fabric on the inner side. I cut out my 5 pieces but as i got ready to sew i realized i didn't have enough elastic. I thought, okay, i should have enough for at least 3. So i stitched up the sides of 3 but found that i really only had enough enough elastic for 2...LOL!! So here we have a picture off all 5.
The 2 uncompleted ones
The 1 half completed one
The 2 finished products
....Arghhhhh...after all that grammar. My laptop won't recognize my camera memory card 0_o so i can't upload the pics...warrahell?? I swear i met my goal of making something each month lol...i just don't know when i'll post the pic at this point. Argh!

iRep Africa
I've been meaning to make one of those thingymijigs that one can hand from their rear view mirror--the African Flag but made from Ankara. I finally made one...a double sided one but i think it might be too big. I'll try it and if it looks obnoxious i'll scale it down.
Then a preggers friend of my request a diaper clutch so i made another one...a different patterned from the first one i made posted somewhere on this blog. I like this fabric...wish i had more of it. She also requested one of those thingys nursing mothers use to cover themselves when they are breast-feeding their lil ones in public. I have made that yet...i haven't even looked it up but i reckon it'll be a pretty easy project.
